CvL goes OMUN 2025

Our Model United Nations-club (MUN) had the honor to attend OMUN on 7th and 8th February 2025 at Oskar-von-Miller Gymnasium in Munich. We represented countries like Austria, USA, Norway or Yemen and tried to solve pressing problems like the worldwide migration crisis (General Assembly 3) or finding regulation of lethal autonomous systems in warfare (General Assembly 1).

Especially the topic in GA 1 was a great challenge for us, or as Benjamin Braun stated: “At first, it was quite intimidating to speak English in front of people I had never met before, especially on a topic that is difficult to understand even in German. However, as the conference progressed, it became easier to speak up. By the end, I would say it was a really cool and an unforgettable experience.”

Paula Bihler was delegate in GA 3 and found that “The conference in Munich - OMUN - was a great opportunity to do MUN at a level where everyone could participate” and Jakob concluded “The conference took place in a very familiar atmosphere and the chairs were very understanding. Overall, we learnt a lot and it was a great experience”. At the committee evening everybody could enjoy themselves. We had a lot of fun, we were very successful and we even received two awards. Franziska Möller, who received the newcomer award, really enjoyed the conference: “The people at the conference were so nice and supportive, always helping you out when you needed help or simply didn‘t know what to say.”

Anna Strößner, also a first-timer, concluded: “The OMUN conference in Munich really surprised me. It was so interesting and much fun. The atmosphere was great and quite professional. I am looking forward to more MUN Conferences.”
